Guy Fawkes
Day or Bonfire Night is a popular annual British celebration (5th
November) that is carried out by thousands of people who attend large organized
events centred on a bonfire. Despite its violent origins, this traditional
festivity has become an enjoyable event to have fun with family and friends.
In order to
continue to educate CLIL students in topics related to British Culture, these
were taken to the school’s hall and were shown an exhibition on this British
annual commemoration. The Language Assistant took them in groups of 15-17 to the
hall and gave them a brief lecture on the background and traditions of this
celebration. Then, the students were asked to complete some questions about the
exhibited information.
In the
meanwhile, the English teacher showed a short Guy Fawkes clip by the BBC
channel to the rest of the students that you can also enjoy now clicking the
following link.
